10/29/09 Big Game on Saturday
So often a regular season championship will come down to one key game and on Saturday it will be the battle between Gunn and Los Altos for football supremacy in the El Camino Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.
Gunn is 3-0 and Los Altos is right behind at 3-1 as the two teams will square off in Los Altos' Homecoming game on Saturday at 1:30 PM.
"This game is huge," said Gunn Head Coach Bob Sykes. "The winner is in position to win the El Camino Division and clinch a Central Coast Section Playoff spot, while the loser may be out of the running."
The Titans know they will have their hands full with the Eagles who are riding a two game win streak and are coming off an impressive 21-0 win against Lynbrook last week.
"Los Altos does a lot of things well and we'll need to be prepared to match up with them," said Sykes. "This will be our third homecoming game in a row and I know Los Altos will be pumped up."
The third homecoming game in a row is reference to the fact that the Titans hosted their own homecoming two weeks ago and Fremont's last week. One thing is for sure, Gunn will get to see a lot of floats.
"I have to say after the first two weeks Gunn's floats have been the best," said Sykes. "We'll see have to see what Los Altos has to offer in that area, but I have to be honest, I'm going to be spending my time focusing on the field."
And that will be a good thing for the Titans as they go for a three game win streak on the field for the first time since 2002.
